You know what they say about "The Smaller The Better...Everyone's going Nano nowadays"?
Well, they lied. Cause today I found out, bigger is DA'BOMB!!!
All those tiny, mini, micro, nano et cetera stuff can go flush yourselves down the toilet bowl...
Well, naturally I'm referring to the rats that we handled today during LAST Practical.
My Gosh, they were BIG all right and I was pretty freaked out before the practical, cause they look just plain evil with those glinting red eyes (well, come to think of it, the mice also had red eyes, just that they weren't as HUGE) and serpent-like tails.
But after hearing from Mei Qi how docile and cute they were("Plush toys!!!"<- her exact words), I steeled myself and went for it.
And you know what, she was right. We picked one - I tried to aim for the retarded, fat but Shakira-esque one. Hmm... So far it hasn't belly-danced for us yet, but it's pretty well-behaved.
And my God, the rats act exactly like babies! ...At least for my bench's. I was positively
melting with affection when mine snuggled into the crook of my arm when I was cuddling it. C'mon, everyone, AWWW... They totally didn't bite at all, even if you dangle your finger temptingly in front of them. And the male rats my bench got didn't squeak at all, unlike the female ones at the other benches.
The only down point for the rats is that they...erm, have extremely effective excrement systems. Their bowel movements are AMAZING. I got pooped on and it stinks, literally. The whole lab room smelt like a diarrhoea collection room...
Then we gave names to them! God forbid, help us...
It started with Eve's - we called her rat Tau Pok cause it was flattened by the other rats aka "TAU POK ARH!!!". Then because Nicholas's and mine had bucked teeth, we called ours Tau Geh. Hy and LJ's ended up as Tau Ki. Members of the soy bean family.
